By Air
You can reach Madeira and Porto Santo Islands by air.
The daily connections between the cities of Funchal and Lisbon take 1H25m.
The daily connections between the islands take about 15 minutes.
There are two airports in the Archipelago: the International Airport of Madeira and the Airport of Porto Santo.

By Sea
Regularly visited by cruise vessels, the ports of Funchal and Porto Santo are an arrival and departure point to and from the islands to other destinations.
The daily connections between the islands take about 2H30m by ferryboat, allowing also the transport of cars.
The transportation in the interior of the islands is very easy, due to the existing modern road structure, with accesses to almost all of the interesting visiting places.

Legal Documentation
If you come from European Union, you can entry freely by the agreement of Shengen. If your country does not make part of this agreement, you need an identification document which, according to the Portuguese rules, can be a valid passport and, in some cases, a visa.

Custom Procedures
There are no limits, regarding the carrying of articles from the islands. If you carry a quantity that may seem excessive to the customs’ employees, you may be asked to prove that the items you carry are for personal use.

Vaccination and Health Prevention
You do not need any kind of vaccination to come to the Archipelago. The emergency service at the public hospitals is free for European Union citizens and the private medical service is available to visitors from other nationalities.
