Distribution and Habitat: This tree is originally from Argentina and is cultivated in Madeira as an ornamental plant.

Description: This tree may reach up to 15 m in height. It has imparipinnately composed leaves, with 20 to 30 small and ovate pairs of leaflets. The flowers are purple, bell-shaped and arranged in end blossoms. The woody fruits are smooth greenish capsules, dark brown when they are dry, with approx. 5 to 8 cm in length and a large quantity of winged seeds.
