Distribution and Habitat: It is often seen flying in the gardens and streets of Funchal and in areas below 1000 m on the southern coast. Resident.
Description: Its size may be 90-102 mm, it is the largest butterfly in Madeira. Orange wings, with wide black veins.
Conservation statute and Threats: Common.
Observations: It has been shown that this species tends to select species from the Asclepias class as feeding plants. This explains why this butterfly is seen in gardens where these ornamental plants grow.
