Distribution and Habitat: Macronesian endemic subspecies. It occurs in the Madeira Archipelago, in the Porto Santo, Desertas and Madeira islands, occupying different types of habitats, namely, agricultural rural areas and low growing vegetation areas.
Description: Its chest plumage is yellow. It presents sexual dimorphism. Females are more discreet than males.
Conservation statute and Threats: Of minor concern. Population of more than 10.000 individuals that presents wide areas of occurrence and distribution. There is no identified threat that may endanger this bird.
Observations: Very abundant species. In the Madeira Island, its abundance decreases with the altitude and it presents a positive population trend.
