Distribution and Habitat: Macronesian endemic subspecies. It occurs in the Madeira Archipelago and it nests exclusively in the Madeira Island. It may be found in a large variety of habitats, namely in areas with a great density of bushes.
Description: This is a small bird that easily distinguishes itself from others similars to it through the black cap in males and brown in females.
Conservation statute and Threats: Subspecies of minor concern. Population of approx. 10,000 individuals that presents a wide area of occurrence.
Observations: This species is very abudant in the Madeira Island and presents a positive population trend.
