Distribution and Habitat: It is mostly present in the Macronesian islands. Widely spread out in the infralittoral zone, in places subject to wave action.
Description: This alga is 10-50 cm in length (variable according to ecology); it is thorny, yellowish and does not have a real basal disk. It has a dark and cylindrical axle.
