Distribution and Habitat: Present in the extreme northeastern region of the Atlantic Ocean. Relatively frequent at more than 200 m depth.
Description: Carapace much broader than long. It has a grainy surface with distinct grooves that outline the different regions. The chelipeds are extremely robust and equal in size and clawed. Generally it presents a reddish colouration.

Observations: Of large commercial interest.
