Common name: False Killer Whale.

Scientific name: Pseudorca crassidens (Owen, 1846)

Distribution and Habitat: Its presence in the region is occasional. Typically oceanic species, occurring globally in temperate and tropical waters.

Description: The colouration is dark grey to black and the body is spindle-shaped and elongated. The head is slender and has no prominent beak. The dorsal fin is elevated and pointed, with a central insertion in relation to the body. It curves its tail peduncle when it dives. The adults length is 5 m and it weighs is 1500 Kg.

Conservation statute and Threats: Of little concern.

Observations: It uses the regions waters solely as passage point and/or for feeding.
