Common name: Pygmy Sperm Whale.

Scientific name: Kogia breviceps (Blainville, 1838)

Distribution and Habitat: Its presence in the region is occasional. It occurs preferentially along the continental platform.

Description: This whale has a small but stocky body; its colouration is dark in the dorsal region and light in the ventral region. Its has a conical head when seen from above. There is a bracket groove between each eye and the base of the flippers. The dorsal fin is extremely small and is located at the rear of the mid-back. It reaches 3 m in length and weighs 350 Kg.
