Common name: White Trevally.
Scientific name: Pseudocaranx dentex (Bloch & Schneider, 1801)

Distribution and Habitat: Pelagic species that forms shoals not very far from the coast, and that may be found in up to 200 m depth.
Description: This fish has an oval body and a large head and its mandibles possess a row of small conic teeth. The pectoral fins are long and the tail fin has a pitchfork shape. The body is silver-coloured with a black spot on the posterior edge of the operculum and the fins are yellow. Although the maximum length of this species is 80 cm, generally the individuals measure 30 to 40 cm.

Observations: Caught with hand lines or drift fishing nets. It is very similar to the blue jack mackerel, although there are great differences in form and body profile. Its flesh is light and its flavour is similar to the blue jack mackerel.
