Common name: Club Mackerel.

Scientific name: Scomber japonicus Houttuyn, 1780

Distribution and Habitat: Pelagic species that may be found in up to 300 m depth.

Description: It has seven to ten spines in the first dorsal fin. Its back is dark blue turning dark green, with irregular dark spots that extend below the lateral line. It reaches up to 60 cm in lenght.

Conservation statute and Threats: Not evaluated.

Observations: Caught with poles inside boats. Also caught with trawls and surrounding nets. Generally, they are eaten fried or with a typical regional sauce.
