Common name: Bulwer's Petrel.

Scientific name: Bulweria bulwerii (Jardine & Selby, 1828)

Distribution and Habitat: Marine bird that nests in the small islands, islets and coastal cliffs of the Madeira Archipelago.

Description: It presents a dark colour (brownish black) and large pointed wings. The bill is black and the tail is long and pointed.

Conservation statute and Threats: Species with a wide distribution and of less concern. Population consisting of a large number of individuals and a wide area of occurrence.

Observations: This species is common in the waters that surround the Madeira Archipelago, between April and September. The Desertas (Deserted islands) constitute the largest colony of the archipelago and possibly of the Atlantic.
