Distribution and Habitat: Its presence in the region is common. It inhabits the lowest parts of the intertidal area, and it may be found in tide puddles and in small rocky cavities during low tide.
Description: The average size of the shell is between 20 and 50 mm, though examples with 100 mm may be found. It has an elongated shape. Its interior is pearly with some blue reflexes and an orange-coloured oval central spot. Externally, the shell is decorated with many wrinkly lines that provide it with a harsh texture. The base of the animals foot is yellow or bright orange.
Conservation statute and Threats: -
Observations: Since it has a high commercial value, it is subject to intense non-controlled captures that may lead to a drastic reduction of its population and consequent disappearence as an explorable resource.
