Distribution and Habitat: It is a benthic species that lives from the anywhere from the coast to waters 50 m deep.
Description: This fish has a narrow, elongated and spindle-shaped body, covered with scales. The head is very long and the eyes are big. The dorsal fin is located in the middle of the body. Its colouration is reddish brown, lighter in the ventral part, often showing dark brown vertical stripes. Its maximum length may reach 30 cm.

Observations: This voracious predator quickly throws itself on its preys, usually fish and crustaceans. It has no commercial value.
