Distribution and Habitat: It is a benthic species that inhabits rocky bottoms, gaps and small caves from 5 to 75 m depth.
Description: It has an elongated, high and compressed body. The head is short and the mandibles are parallel in length. The pectoral and pelvic fins are absent and the body is usually covered with irregular yellow blotches with dark blue dots on a very dark blue background. It reaches a maximum length of 1.30 m.

Observations: Caught with fish pots and a longline. It has nocturnal habits and is carnivorous.
