Quinta Vigia

This Quinta, an expression of civil baroque and neoclassic architecture style, was built over the XVI, XVII, XVIII, XIX and XX centuries, and has a privileged location in a huge park over the Port of Funchal, being therefore, one of the most emblematics Quintas of Madeira.

It was the residence of Nicolau de la Tuelière and the Count of Lambert, the Queen Adelaide of England, the empress Isabel of Austria, the Archduke Maximiliano, the prince of Oldenburg, the Duke of Leuchtenberg, D. Amélia – Brasil empress and her daughter Maria Amélia. D. Maria Amélia has deceased there in 1853.

Quinta Vigia is nowadays the official resident of the Madeira's Regional Government.
