Cycle Tourism

The cycle tourism although being a healthful, economic and very ecological way of making tourism, it is not very much practised in Madeira due the topography of the island.

On the other hand, the mountain bicycles or BTT, due to its robustness, have gained many adepts in Madeira because they allow to explore regions with difficult access. The most wanted paths are the mountainous lands full of vertiginous declivities.

In competition terms there are two types of categories: cross country, closed circuits with ascents, descents and technical parts; and the “downhill”, mountain descending for flattened land tracks, very much appreciated by the specialists of the modality. In Madeira many competitions of “downhill” have been carried through and the first “down town” competition in Funchal is being prepared. The many fans of this modality use to practise all over the island and especially in Chăo das Feiteiras and Montado do Pereiro.

For those who do not know the region, there are shops and companies that organize competitions and tracks.
