Distribution and Habitat: This endemic species of Madeira lives in rocky scarps, in the northern coastline and in the island's inland, up to 1700 m altitude. It also occurs in Porto Santo and Deserta Grande, but with less frequency.
Description: Small shrub that reaches up to 1 m in height, with many branches and spear-shaped leaves. The flowers are aromatic and black purplish.
Conservation statute and Threats: Abundant species, not threatened.
Observations: Blooming season is from March to June.
