Distribution and Habitat: This endemic species of Madeira inhabits the rocky scarps of the island coastline and inland. It may be found in the Desertas islands.
Description: This herbaceous plant may reach 50 cm in height with ovate, serrated and golden yellow leaves.
Conservation statute and Threats: This rare species is strictly protected and classified as communitarian interest by the European Counsil.
Observations: The plant adapts to extreme dryness due to an extremely developed radicle system. Blooming season is from June to December.
