Distribution and Habitat: Endemic species of Madeira that may be found in altitudes which vary between 0 and 700 m, in rocky scarps of the coastline and in the Laurissilva. It also occurs in Porto Santo and Desertas. The saucer plants may be seen everywhere. In Madeira, it is possible to see it grow under rocks in Tabúa.
Description: This aromatic herbaceous plant has no stem, the juicy leaves have dyed brownish red edges, which are arranged like rosettes, and it may reach 45 cm in diameter. The flowers are yellow and numerous.
Conservation statute and Threats: Abundant species, not threatened. Blooming season is from June to August.
