Distribution and Habitat: This endemic species of Madeira lives in ravines and scarps of the Laurissilva, from 600 to 1000 m altitude. It may be seen in some places between Ribeiro Frio and Portela.

Description: This shrub may reach a height of 4 m. It has a branched stem, large and serrated leaves and dense blossomings with yellowish orange flowers.

Conservation statute and Threats: This plant is rare, but it has a good preservation stage and is under the statutes ascribed to the Laurissilva forest.

Observations: It may be cultivated in moist and shadowy places. Blooming season is from June to August.
