Distribution and Habitat: Its presence in the region is rare. It occurs in deep waters.
Description: Its body is elongated and its colouration varies between dark to bluish grey, being slightly lighter in the ventral region. The head ends in a beak shape, the inferior jaw protrudes slightly outward in comparison to the superior one and the males have two teeth. When it surfaces, its beak appears first. The tail fluke does not present a median slant. Its body may reach 4,5 m in length and weigh 1100 kg.

Observations: The difficulty that exists in distinguishing the different kinds of beaked whales constitutes an obstacle for the study of this species in our waters.
