Distribution and Habitat: This species inhabits the coastal areas in shallower waters, where it forms large schools.

Description: Oblong body, short head and obtuse snout. The jaws of both mandibles have rows of incisor teeth. It has a silver-coloured body, with 11 golden yellow longitudinal lines. The fins are pale yellow. Its maximum length is 46 cm.
